2000 400ex smoking
Ok so im new to this site, my 2000 400ex has oil leaked onto the left side of the head which i know means it needs a new head gasket but it just also started shooting quite a bit of white smoke out of the exhaust. Now i don't know a lot about motors so can anyone help me in troubleshooting what this might be?

More info is needed before advice is given.
Leaking oil on the left side of the could be a base gasket, head gasket or head cover gasket.
White smoke out the exhaust could be raw fuel vapor. If the petcock is left on and the carb overflows, it can fill the exhaust with gas which vaporizes when the engine is running and creates a heavy white smoke. It could also be oil.

the leaking is towards the top of the head on the left side of the motor. if pics r needed i can post them

it ended up needing a head gasket and the smoking just stopped (weird!). sorry for the wait on a response.
