Your problem is most likely a damaged gear. Only way to find out is start tearing it down. Do what you can with the engine in the frame. Drain the oil, pull the clutch cover, check the shift mech behind the clutch, then if no problem is found there, continue pulling off what you can before you pull the motor and break it down to get into the tranny. There you will find out if it's a gear, shift fork, shift drum or a combination of all the parts.
