Default TRX300EX exhaust recommendations for newbie

I just found your forum and was hoping for some help.
I recently purchased a 07 300ex for my son to replace an 01 blaster. The 300ex only had about 10 hours on it and got a great deal. The first thing my son mentioned is that it felt like it did not have as much power as the blaster which is stock.
I was wonder if changing the exhaust and rejetting the carb would make much of a difference. If so, which exhaust would you recommend?
Also, are there any other mods that you would recommend? The bike is only used for trail riding and racing around with his friends.

Thanks for the help.

Any good brand name exhaust would be great LRD, FMF, CurtisSparks, you will have to rejet the carb move the clip on the needle, you can change the cam i would put a HotCam stage 2 take the breather box top off for more air since you are going to rejet anyway, you can even change the piston out with a higher compression but don't go over 13 to1 or you will have to run race fuel 9 to 25 $ a gal depending on what octane you get.

Any reputable Exhaust like 69quadracer said would be good. A kid up the road has a 02 300ex and his has a 330 kit in it with a stge 2 cam, K&N air filter no breatherbox lid, and an fmf exhaust. It runs pretty good. but I would not bore it unless I had too. the fmf exhaust also sounds pretty good on it compared to all the stock ex i have heard on them.

I have a blaster thats ported, toomey pipe, 250rhonda carb, reeds, etc..... and my heavily modded 250x beats it by a bike length in a drag race, but handling the 250x will kill the blaster.

It takes less money to make a blaster fast, but the stock suspension and brakes......blow bigtime. 300ex is a better all around quad.

stock compression is like 8.9.1 you can put a 10.1 and up the power a tad. I have a 12.1 piston with web race cam in mine and it opened up the power alot.

get an exhaust pipe that bends out of the frame youll notice the stocker bends inside the frame an some aftermarket units do too.

Curtis Sparks racing is the way to go. Every honda 300ex at in my race series has a Sparks Racing exhaust, except only one kid has a FMF exhaust. There is about 40 Honda 300s in my race series too.
