Problem with starter solenoid need help
So I disconnected my battery to pull my rear fender for paint. I went to put it back together yesterday and the starter is making a strange noise and not actually cranking the motor. I'm guessing I have something backwards so I could use some advice on what I'm doing wrong. In the photo A is the hot wire, B is the ground and I'm not sure what C and D are. Since D is inline with the hot I put it on the hot side of the solenoid and C on the ground but this didn't work. I can't remember how it was when I took it apart. Should have taken pictures

Also, the fuse before D in the picture says it should be a 15 amp fuse but it's had a 20 in it for some time and been okay. Should I switch this to a 15 or does it not really matter? By the way, you can thank the previous owner for the spray paint job over everything. I'm curently repainting everything he messed up.
