Default Need help on rear master cylinder rebuild

Bought used 1998 300ex previous owner took cylinder apart, I have got rebuild kit, but have a stupid questions which way does rubber cups face on piston, do both cups face toward spring end which is the way fluid is being pushed tried looking at manual pictures still can't tell

OK - you lost me - there are no springs (other than the anti-rattle spring that pushes down on the brake pads)

theres no pads in the MASTER cylinder

i'v never rebuilt a master cyl, just calipers sorry can't help you this time

OK - you caught me - I turned it into a caliper.

On the master cylinder - the seals (cups) face towards the spring (sealing and pushing fluid to the caliper). Put them in backwards and when you push the piston the fluid will just come out the lever end.

Thanks guys I thought thats how they would go, but wanted to make sure, previous owner also lost the rubber diaphram for the reservoir, trying to locate one. Just love people who takes things apart and leave them then sell it and just say brakes wont work, but I gave 800 for bike which runs good
