Default new to this, from upstate NY

Just purchased a new 2009 400x from dealer and am trying to gather info as far as aftermarket upgrades. I plan on using it on tight wooded trails. First off would be a slip-on exhaust.

First of WELCOME to the Family!
I ride an07 400ex.
My first mods where to ditch thise crappy stock skid plates.
I broke the rear stoke skid on my first ride.
I would also recomend a set of good nerfs. I have PRO armor on mine. I really like them. Then I would recommend a set of after market tires. Better traction is nice. After all that I would get an Exhaust.

I have a HMF full system. I really like it. Curtis Sparks make another great pipe for the 400ex or 400x.
Don't forget to rejet with this mod.
I also recommend a UNI air filter.

tomgodd,
thanks for the warm welcome. I first put on Pro Arnor skid and a-arm protection. The next thing thing I am working on is deciding which slip-on to put on. Thinking of HMF sport series with a quiet core. I would like to get a slip-on that provides me with the maximum amount of power and torque without having the sheriff at my door every time I ride. I don't mind spending the money for quality. Jetting after the fact is not an issue, I would anyways with this modification. The uni air filter make that much difference than stock?

The stock filter is made by UNI if I remember correctly. But an after market one will probly breath better.
I run a full system sport series. It is load! I do not have a quiet core in mine now but I did buy one. For the trails that require them.

They make a quiet exhaust that make good power.
