I never powder coated a quad frame, but I powder coated a motorcycle frame once. It was a real pain in the azz. First was the disassembly, then it had to be completely degreased, then the paint had to be removed, finally, all the bearing seats had to be covered and all the threaded holes had to be plugged to keep out the coating. After it was done (in basic gloss black) the assembly began. During assembly I found out the coating would chip and scratch the same or worse than regular paint. I would never do it again unless building a show machine that would be for display only. The last powder coating job I did was for my son. He bought a Honda VTX1800 Retro new in 2002. With about 1000 miles on it he decided he wanted it customized. He had me dismantle the motor and final drive. He got the cylinders, cylinder heads, engine cases and final drive case powder coated the same color as the bike, then he had the cylinders and heads Diamond Cut. It turned out pretty good. (see pics)(I hope they upload) Note: the LH side cover is missing in the photo. It had not yet been returned from the company that blended the powder to match the color of the bike.
