1988 Honda 300 4 trax
Hi every one , I have a 1988 Honda 300 4 trax 4x4 quad and the left rear tire quit spining. The other 3 spin all at the same time all the time. Could the axle be broke to the left rear wheel causing it not to spin? I have difficulty making it up my hilly snow covered driveway to plow it since this happened.

Welcome to the forums. The rear axle is a one peace axle so it very well could be broke. Hear is a link to what it looks like.

I just thought of something. Check the bubs to make sure they ain't striped out. There is a chance you could have striped a hub.

What you can try is jack the back up and have someone hold the break and try and turn each wheel and see if one slips or not.

We had the same problem on our 91 fourtrax. Only while out in the snow one day we completely lost the entire wheel. The splines stripped out and then the nut holding the hub onto the axle went causing the whole thing to just come apart.... Very expensive fix! I think the axle alone was around $250. at the time. I'd recommed you get the large metric wrenches for removing the axle too. I didn't and ended up wishing I did!

Checked out my 88 4 trax 300 and the hub was stripped out. Had to get an air impact and pb blaster along with propane torch to get it off. Axle spline was still ok. I flipped the hub over backwards with the studs fACING INWARDS. There was a small end of hub that was not stripped out showing me that the axle was still good. New hub with pressed in studs included was about $40 from honda dealer. Lug nuts not included used old ones. Recommend purchasing new spindle pin also as mine crumbled when I removed it. thanks for the tip once again.
