TRX300 plug fires continuously

88 300 4 Wheeler. Engine runs sporatically. Pull the plug, connect the plug wire, ground out the plug, turn on ignition. Plug lights up like a welder.
Tested coil- post to post .35 ohms/post to naked plug wire 4.35 Kohms(either pots reads same to naked plug wire end)

The black box [inside the cover, beside th4 stator] is that the pulse coil? If so- how to test?

Thanks to the group for looking!

Yes - the black box inside the alternator cover is the pulse generator.

First thing to do is make sure the battery terminals are tight - unplug the pulse gen - if you still have a continuous spark, replace the CDI box
