There is a switch on the clutch lever - it's intended purpose is to allow cranking the engine when in gear - the switch may be damaged or shorted in some way causing the killing of the engine - try disconnecting the switch from the wiring and see if it solves the problem - if not, try shorting the wiring harness connectors together and see if that works - it's not solving the problem, but narrowing down the possibilities.
