There is one for sale near me and the guy wants 850$ for it. I can probably get it for 600$. It's a little beat up but seems to run reasonably ok. It stalled at idle a few times but seemed to have decent power.
What should I look for ? Any known issues with this model ? Parts availability seems not too bad.

In good condition - a TRX300 is worth about $800 and a TRX300FW about $1000 (in my part of the country)

$600 sounds fair but check reg/rec or stator if you are not getting around 14 volts when revving, it might be bad or weak. Also see if it has humming noise, its more likely c.d.i. issue.
