I just got this one. The original owner rode twice and the dunes. After that she kept it in the barn it hadn't ran in five years. I offered to get it running again. Just what I was looking for.. .. I offered her $2000 for it

New battery
Cleaned the carbs
Drained the fuel tank
Cleaned it up
I got it for $1800

I just broke it in on a trip to sand lake.
So with a few thing in the garage I an now fabricating a led curict.

Looks great. I just bought a 2000 for $650 that needs head gasket replaced. I am also going to replace pistons since top end is going to be off. Eager to get mine up and running!

Any advice on draining / cleaning fuel tank?

Gas tank

I use chemtool b-12. You can can it in a spray can or bottles. It works great. I am a mechanic and I use it all the time for cleaning intakes carbs and others messes.
Pour some in the the tank and shake it around some , let it sit for a bit. Yoi can us it for staying down carb while its running to clean out the intake the combustion chamber.

Alright!!! Heres a what I got to install. I have 6 circuits including the stock headlamps.

Hi led headlamp replaces the stock lamps
2 Anzo HI 18 watt 1120 lume 6000k color wave
I custom led light bar multi color 6 watts 500 lumes
2 frame luminary LEDs
1 Bat signal. Custom 700 lume led
I rear auxiliary plug for led whip

I have installed secondary 12 ah sla battery that will run the lights. Relay secondary handle grip multi switch that run a 5 way circuit.
I have replaced all lights with LEDs. I add 2 more rear red LEDs. Anzos are hard mounted and can be switch to run off the primary battery
Amazingly I only pull 4.5 amps.

Is that 4.5 amps off the battery or off the alternator charging wire? Check the amps on the red wire coming off the rectifier/regulator going to the battery with the engine running about 2500rpm - let me know what you measure

I am using a 12ah sla battery to run every thing but the anzos. I am runnig them of the headlight. That way I am able remove the other circuit. I can almost turn the stock battery sidways and fit both batteries. I would have to modify the stock battery box however I am not willing to do that now. I read in here that theres about 50 available watts. The Anzos burn less energy then HID bulds plus the headlamps are LED they draw less as well.

You would make a good politician - I didn't ask for the detailed installation, type of battery details or about the lights - just the amps on a specific wire with the lights on and the engine running at about 2500 rpm

What you just did is blow smoke. Good luck - I hope it works out for you. Alternators can be replaced for about $200
