Hello im new to the forum and new to 400ex. i picked up a 01 400ex with a 440 kit for a great price, but it needs a head gasket i was seeing what is the best head gasket to use and where to get it from. if there are any tricks or hints that would help me out it would be a big help thanks in advance,

Get a set of harden head bolts. The stock head bolts will stretch some allowing it to leak.

To the best of my knowledge, most 440 kits (89mm) were made by Wiseco. Wiseco sells a top end gasket set (part number W5942) for about $80. Cometic has an 89mm TE set for about the same price. I don't think you can get a head gasket only for the 440 kit. Good luck!
