wut color smoke? Could be running rich. black smoke is too much fuel, blue/grey is oil.
Those 80's hondas are known for carb problems, especially the wonky idle screws. Thers a guy on ebay that sells knockoff carbs for them at like 50 for a new carb. So far I've bought 2 of them and they have worked great for over a year now.
HELP!!!!!! I have a 1985 TRX and only will work in 1st and Reverse. 2nd grinds and so does 3rd and 4th. Does anyone think it is the high speed drive gear in the sub trans. Sometime it will shift into second but it soon starts to grind. Please help!!!!!
I recently adopted an '86 trx200sx with "no spark" I thought could be easy to fix... yeah. I had been told the stator was bad. But I usually have to prove things myself. The fellow said he tried different cdi and coil to no avail. I measured the stator and pulsers and their resistance was in spec. I spun the motor and measured about 100 volts ac from the red and black wire to the CDI. and expected something from the cdi to the coil but found no output. I decided to look at the stator... when I pulled the left crankcase cover, water and oil poured out (much to my dismay). The stator and everything in there was soaked in grey gooey oil. I expect that is what is causing the problem. I assume there is some crank seal behind the flywheel thats gone. but also suspect the pulser is toast. As I said I read its resistance per the service manula and it was correct. But maybe its flooded and shorted to ground? I also expect to measure some voltage from it? I mean how han it excite without that? Any comments are welcome.
The stator runs in oil - engine oil - if the stuff was grey and gooey, it is oil mixed with water. You need to run it and do frequent oil changes till you get rid of all the water. Heat will evaporate some and oil will trap some by emulsification. Change the oil while hot after every ride till it comes out clear (no milkiness). Shouldn't take too many changes. Good luck.
I have it all dried and running nicely. I have replaced many small parts that showed signs of no love. The front wheels are bent and I cant find any replacements. Are there any other models that use this bolt pattern? And what Are the dimensions? I just want straight, cheap wheels...
