I recently just bought a 1986 Honda trx350. I bought it knowing it didn’t run, when I got it home I figured out it has no spark. Replaced coil and voltage regulator, and still nothing. There is no power going to the coil. It also has a new ignition switch on it. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
There is no power to the coil as it is an AC ignition system - the system consists of the alternator, CDI box, coil and spark plug - you kill the spark when you connect the blk/wht wire of the CDI unit to ground.
Start troubleshooting by disconnecting the blk/wht wire, get a peak voltage tester and check the peak voltage output of the CDI charge coil in the alternator, the pulse coil and the output of the CDI box to the coil.
