I recently decided to revive my old 400ex. One of the many tasks involved was cleaning the carb. I used to run a slip on muffler and k&n filter and had jetted the carb along with it. Its been so long I don't remember what jet was in it and I forgot to look when I had everything apart. I decided to put the stock muffler on to keep it quiet and clean since the aftermarket was rusting. While riding this weekend I noticed the power of the machine was inconsistent so I decided to order a rebuild kit and give it a shot. Anyway, what jet set would you recommend for just a stock muffler and k&n filter?

38 pilot and a 148 to 152 main - personally, I would ditch the K&N filter and go with a stock, UNI or Twin-Air air filter. The K&N passes too much dirt, has to be cleaned and re-oiled frequenty and is only beneficial if you need the extra air flow provided at the very top end of the engine's performance. Otherwise it leads to premature engine wear and necessitates unnecessary engine service. If you install something other than the K&N filter, then jet at 38 and 148

Just picked up a trx for a friend and she rode it a couple of times and two times the bike kind of stalled and now its having a little trouble starting im thinking its fuel because when i rode it, it would want to stall after letting off at high rpms. It has a -side note im riding in New Orleans, Louisiana. Any wisdom/feedback is appreciated.
