Having a issue with my clutch while riding. It seems that the clutch is either all the way in or all the way out no matter what gear I am in. Its preventing me from being able to work the clutch while riding in the trails. Any suggestions as to what may be the best way to fix it?

I have seen this problem caused by 4 circumstances - Clutch cable about ready to break (usually right at the lever), broken clutch plate (most common cause other than cable), clutch securing nut loose on transmission shaft (somewhat rare unless clutch has been removed and installed by an inexperienced mechanic) and severely worn clutch basket fingers (driven clutch plate tabs sit into grooves worn into the clutch basket fingers - happens over time)

Other than the cable being a problem, the clutch cover has to be removed and the clutch inspected
