So this is a long story. I replacing my head gasket when I thought to myself why not replace the clutch. It couldn't pop wheelies above 2nd gear and it had a bit of slippage. O I bought myself some $50 fibers and steels didn't want to spend over 150 for Hinson, Barnett, or Honda. I put them in, correctly all the stuff you need to do soak, sharp side of steels in, torque the springs to 9 foot-pounds. And they couldn't be adjusted I either they would drag so much you couldn't change gears or the clutch would not even stick to move the quad I was like oh maybe they are just cheap plates and don't grip well. So I saw a sparks 8-plate clutch kit on vividracing and thought great even more grip awesome bought it, 3 months and 5 phone calls later I don't get it, cancel my order and get only half my money back (but that is not the point of me writing this). I go looking on forums and found out that the trx250r has the same exact plates only the steels are thinner. So I got myself new OEM 8 trx250r fibers the exact same as the trx400ex and 7 250r steels put them in, correctly and still the same exact problem. I go searching on the internet what could it be, find out that oil makes a big difference in wet clutch applications. I always ran conventional Castrol oil, but did you know that it has anti-friction additives, ok, I get motorcycle luqi moly (Jaso ma2 rating) and I put it in checked the oil levels they were in the middle of the dipstick. And guess what, the same exact problem. Please help me cause I just don't know what else it could be. I have replaced many clutches and never ran into this problem.
