HI! As the title implies i just traded my 2000 Banshee for a 2001 400EX. what should I look for reliability wise? I have read that valve clearance has been an issue with 4 strokes, but have also heard Honda's are one of the stronger ones made. Any advice would be helpful.

It's reliable - that's all there s to it.

Change the oil and filter regularly, check and adjust the valves as necessary. You can tell when the valves get tight and need to be adjusted - it will get hard to start.

Valve clearance is as much an issue with 4 strokes as ring replacement is an issue with 2 strokes. It's called maintenance.

Four strokes don't need to be rebuilt as often as two strokes, but rebuilding one is more involved and costs a lot more.
