Hey gang,
Newbie here. I have a 97 TRX200D that just started acting like there is a rev limiter on. Seems to idle ok but when you give it throttle won't rev. I checked reverse switch and it is working as it should. Bike was running fine. Just started happening. Carb is clean, fresh gas, air intake not clogged. ??? Any help would be much appreciated.

Check to see if the main jet fell out

Nope on main jet. Carb is fine. I'm going to check timing next. Maybe key way sheared and fly wheel moved???

You can check the flywheel key without removing the alternator cover - take the spark plug out, use a soda straw to check the position of the piston as you turn the crankshaft (by hand) - as the piston approaches TDC (on either the compression or exhaust stroke) the "T" mark on the flywheel should line up in the view port - if the "T" mark appears somewhere other than TDC, then the key may have sheared (the key will only shear if the flywheel has been removed, installed and improperly tightened)

Check to see if the choke is staying on instead of off

Thanks for the shortcut on the flywheel. Flywheel is fine. Did leakdown and compression check.. All good. Choke is fine too. My head is getting sore from scratching. ��

Broken throttle cable? Take the top off the air box and try it?

Since it starts and idles well, it's most likely not getting fuel or it's not getting air. Discount spark, compression, valves and timing. Aclog in the exhaust could do it too.
