Had my 426 bored to 440 89 mm when I got the jug back from machine shop the bore is 88.82 the piston does fit but is very tight was wondering if this will be a problem

88.82 is not 89.00mm - the piston normally measures 88.48

You should always send the piston with the cylinder when having bored. The machinist can measure the piston and hone the finished size to provide the proper clearance.

Did the same machinist install the new sleeve before boring or was the sleeve installed when it was bored to 88mm?

Usually when ever you get anything Bored over you send the Piston & Rings with it to the Machine Shop and they will bore the Cylinder to the Exact size it needs to be. Usually when they do Bore anything they always bore just Ever So slightly bigger because of the Expansion of the Piston when it warms up will Expand.
