Timing

Pull the round plug on the flywheel side rotate the motor until you see some little marks on the flywheel. you will see a little notch in the threader hole you take the plug out of find the mark with a T next to it that is your timing mark. Make sure your cam gear is lined up with the index mark on the camand the timing mark is lined up with the notch all at the same time. if not take the timing gear off line up the timing mark on the flywheel with the notch and install the gear on the cam. Hope this helps. you can go to Hot cams web site and click on the how to install and that might help, its a video.
yeah that helped out alot thanks
HAVEyou got your quad running yet?
No not yet, about to tho, waitin on my exaust to come in
Good post 69quadracer. What exhaust you getting Dbarker?
nothing too fancy just a Cobra steel exhaust, its kinda a budget build
Not tryin to tell you what to buy but i would not waste my money on the cobra, i would buy a slip on before i would buy a complete cobra exhaust . If you do a lot of trail ridin the cobra is going to rust out in a year or so . buy an HMF,FMF or somethin like that, just tryin to help in the long run.
Yea I heard they are pretty loud. How much does a FMF or HMF normally run cost wise. I was gonna get the cobra cause I needed the head pipe too and it was in my price range
I would save my money for a little longer and just buy a slip on unless you do a lot of motor work piston cam portwork a complete system will not do you any good a slip on is the way to go, just shop around on some of the suppliers websites, on ebay look through your magazines and call around you can probably pick one up for 250 to 350 but i am just gussing on the prices.

Good advice! those exhaust r garbage. my buddy bought a 300ex for his kid and cobra came on it. It was load and it looked like junk and the quad was an 2006. HMF is what I would get. I like Curtis Sparks and LRD too.
Yep...most of your power comes from the "slip on" part. So unlesss you have some engine mods theres really no use in a full exhaust.
Thanks for the advice. It has the biggest piston that can be put in those motors, so it has a few mods. I ve been lookin around and I should be able to get a good head pipe for not that much so it sounds like the slip on is gonna be the best thing. I am not exactly sure but I think I m right, does a 300ex head pipe fit the 250x motor? From what I have heard it does
I really don't know but i will check for you.
I looked up the factory part numbers and looked at the pictures in the parts fich your part # is 18320-HCO-013 the 300 ex part # is 18320-HCO-000 the pics look the same hope this helped.
My buddy bought a blown up 300ex that was like a nationals mx quad and put all the parts that he could on his sons 250x and yec the exhaust did work.
Yea the exhaust should work.
