Right now I have a 14v battery in a 86? trx250 but everything I read says it requires a 12v will anything damage happen if I put a bigger battery in this atv ?

A fully charged 12v battery has a 13.2 vdc potential - what is the industry standard series number on your battery?
The correct battery for your machine is a TX12-BS - leading letters or numbers could be different - i.e. CTX12-BS (Western Power Sports), YTX12-BS (Yuasa), BTX12-BS (BikeMaster), GTX12-BS (GS Battery and NAPA), ES12BS & ES-12BS (Walmart) - and the only other acceptable battery number that I could find is the Yuasa YTH12-12B
